DRAWING
Exploring themes of loss and interdependence, in Ibby’s work drawing is used as an intimate means of understanding. Through an intensity of observation, the transcribing of other lives into the pictorial becomes a ‘technique of awareness’, an act of recognition and remembrance. Increasingly, natural foraged materials are used to make both tools and pigments. Borrowing Donna Haraway’s concept of ‘sympoeisis’ or a ‘making with’, the work becomes collaborative, peculiar to place and particular to being. It seeks to return agency to the more-than-human and convey an equality of individual lived experience between species, always looking to a future of kinship.
