Carole in her studio

Carole lives in Gloucestershire, working from her studio in a small village high up in the Cotswold Hills. Her work as a textile artist is concerned with constructing paper structures of sensation and imagination and is regularly included in exhibitions with the Cheltenham Open Studios, Cheltenham Group of Artists, ArtCan and Pure Arts Group.

Over the last few years her work has also been selected for the ING Discerning Eye, the RWA Open Exhibitions and the Derwent Art Prize.

Currently her textile work is represented in the Micro and Mini Textile International Exhibitions in Ukraine.

“I have a solid background in fine art embroidery from Manchester Metropolitan University. Rhythmically and repetitively drawing, in landscapes and gardens, I love to discover and document the journeys and tracks made through these places. Back in the studio, repeated elements of this visual dialogue are elongated into new versions using pen, ink and graphite all tightly pleated and compressed. New vistas of pilgrimages and journeys are the result.

My aim is to capture the essence of the landscapes I love to be in. Embroidery and constructional techniques are used which have a beauty, depth and quietness translating the drawings into crafted paper textiles.”

It is my absolute delight to be showing a Solo Collection of drawings and paper textiles over the Summer of 2023 in The Beauport Gallery at the Bannatyne Spa Hotel in Hastings.”
