Sculpture & 3D
Lydia Carda
3D
Lydia's work is the result of observation of human nature and the interaction between human beings. Her sculptures are created using delicate materials to explore the ephemeral nature of the human body and hence the fragility of our flesh and mind. Since she does not reside in her native country, a common topic in her work is displacement, loss and memory. For her paintings she uses powder pigments that she mixes with different mediums. She also uses other materials that would be used for 3D work in her 2D work. She is always exploring new materials to work with that she incorporates into her works when she needs to. Her practice has moved from figurative to abstract paintings in the last years trying to transmit a raw feeling, an emotion straight from the heart, with depth of colour and texture.
