TEXTILES
Susan explores colour, rhythms and seasonal changes in nature through her mixed media textile pieces. Working from details of trees and plants through to larger garden and landscape images she incorporates hand painted batik and pieced fabric images, with sensitively stitched details.
Following a Degree in Textiles in Yorkshire in the 1980’s Susan worked in the fashion and textile industry where she developed an eye for colour and range building. An Art and Design MA in Brighton and a career teaching textiles have since lead Susan to focus on slow hand made textiles, sustainable use of plant based dyes and natural materials.
Susan has exhibited with Ditchling Museum of Art & Craft, The Worshipful Company of Broderers and Internationally with the Mini / Micro Textile & Fibre Art Exhibition in Ukraine and the Batik Guild in the USA.
