Since I was young, food has  been a corner stone of my life- I’d spend every weekend cooking with friends or browsing food trucks at the local farmer’s market.  But I had no idea it would cause me to lose control.  I use to spend every weekend visiting a new restaurant and was known as the biggest foodie. Countless times I was told ‘you need to stop eating. You’re going to find it so difficult to lose weight’. However, despite the well meaning advice, nothing ever changed, and I continued to dine out and live my foodie life. But one day I went for a bra fitting at -as I looked in the mirror, I did not recognise myself. That is how I decided then it was time to change my lifestyle

It gave me the opportunity to rethink my values and put health as the most important. I mean, it doesn’t matter how much money, friends or restaurants you get to explore if you don’t have good health — you’re left with NOTHING. Therefore, health has become a priority for me, as it impacts all other areas of my life.

But as someone who loves their food, the thought of going on a ‘diet’ didn’t excite me. I was studying Nutrition on a 4 year degree, but that didn’t change my eating habits at all – evidence based nutrition is just the first step of building a healthy relationship with yourself and food.

I graduated from the University of Newcastle with a degree in Nutrition and then trained to be a certified Life Coach and Neuro-Linguistic Programing Practitioner. I spent 2 years working with clients in the UK, helping them to transform their lives using healthy lifestyle habits and I also transformed my own physique. Myself and my clients lost 2 stone and ENJOYED the process. In my experience, the mind is the most powerful tool we have — and it manifests as healthy habits and a positive relationship with food.

I know I am not alone in my thoughts when it comes to weight loss. I believe that weight loss is a process that should not be achieved through one-size-fits-all programs or fat clubs. I believe that diets and counting sins are a thing of the past. The way forward for people who want to lose weight is a program which is both sustainable and easy to follow, so much so it can become part of their lifestyle.
