Our residency commissioning programme offers artists, at any stage in their professional career journey, space and time to focus on developing both their emotional and business skills and art, to ensure they establish a strong and resilient professional art practice that will sustain them going forward.

The residency location is at Bannatyne Hotel & Spa Hastings located in the South East of England, UK. There is an intention to expand the residency programme to additional locations in the UK and overseas in the coming years.

Artist Demo & Workshop

A key element of the artist residency commissioning programme is skill sharing. This allows insight into the artists creative practice and supports a better understanding of their process and materials.

The Elements of Residency

Our artist residency commissioning programme offers artists, at any stage in their professional career journey, space and time to focus on developing both their emotional and business skills and art, to ensure they establish a strong and resilient professional art practice that will sustain them going forward.

A residency plan to include information about artwork to be exhibited and detailed information regarding contact persons, programme schedule, artist visits/stays, technical support, information needs, and other matters is agreed approximately 1 month in advance of the residency start date.
Pure will support and promote a Private View event should the artist select this as an option.
Artists accepting a residency will be invited to deliver an artist talk or workshop during their tenure at a mutually agreeable time - usually in line with an Open Day event.
For residencies taking place at Bannatyne Spa Hotel, Hastings the programme includes access to accommodation on a dinner, bed and breakfast basis for a maximum of 3 nights and exhibition space for a solo show for a maximum period of 8 weeks in the dedicated gallery (or other space as agreed). The accommodation can be taken at any time in the year of residency and can be taken in either 1, 2- or 3-day sequences.
