"The title 'Desertas' refers to a group of islands which are part of the Archipelago of Madeira. I was inspired to paint this piece as it takes me back to the countless hours I spent gazing at the islands, lost in dreams of an adventurous future. The sentiment and energy in the work reect both the challenges of island life and the anticipation of all the new experiences waiting ahead."
