Susan's childhood memories tell a vivid and poignant story. She was brought up in very difficult circumstances - for both her parents were blind and therefore not aware of her young natural artistic gift. She has never had any formal training and is totally self- taught, winning her first painting competition at the age of 12.

Her intricate pencil portrayals of the animal world are absolutely stunning, with each illustration taking many hours of meticulous planning and attention to detail and texture. The results are quite amazing and mesmerising to the eye.
