We are excited to launch our Pure Artist Development Programme for 2024: The Pure Principles for Becoming a Successful Artist.
Pure founder and artist mentor Lesley Samms has designed this programme to help you focus on the core qualities that contribute to artists' success.

Pure Principles are the core qualities that contribute to artists' success. Each month in 2024 one principle will be featured with themed content and activities.

Regular content will reach you each month, via our mailing list and the website. The previous months content will also be available any time to review on the website.

We are also delivering an enhanced level to this programme for Pure Members, including bespoke monthly activities in the portal, members calendar of events and the option of one-on-one guidance where required.

Being authentic can be difficult because it requires us to speak up and speak out and express our true feelings - even if it is not what others want to hear. An authentic person embraces their unique qualities and quirks, rather than trying to conform to societal norms. They freely admit their mistakes and take responsibility for their actions.
As an artist, understanding yourself and conveying your true and honest feelings and emotions is critical, as for the most part art is all about connection. Connection with self and connection with the audience, be it a buyer, gallery, critic or other artists. And each of these relationships holds the potential to open new doors and inspire new directions in your work.
Being authentic helps build trust and ensure the connections you make have depth and longevity.

CAROLE BURY
Carole specialises in Drawings and Paper Textiles, with a firm foundation in Fine Art Embroidery.
Her artistic journey is an ongoing exploration of translucent papers, techniques, and mediums, where she constantly challenges herself to learn and to innovate. Carole experiences a sense of discovery and freedom when attempting to combine these elements, conveying lightness and intrigue to the viewer.
Carole’s drawings contain inner dialogues, discovering solutions to create movement and images that sing of the places she walks in. In the studio, she draws inspiration from her outdoor sketchbooks, she will work at the easel, using pencils, charcoal and ink. Carole often shifts scale, simplifying details, translating her visions onto larger sheets of paper or canvases.
