Painting - Realism
Nick Rowland
PAINTING
Nick uses his on site broad brush gouache sketches, as well as memories of woodland visits, for his finished semi-abstract acrylic paintings. He is mostly inspired by trees and their beauty, with the tranquillity that they uncompromisingly offer, as well as being nature’s givers of life. This approach brings him into direct contact with the natural surroundings and makes him feel at peace, with the experience helping him to bring that feeling into his art work that is produced back in his studio, making it atmospheric. Nick likes to experiment with light, tone and texture. To achieve this, he will either paint light over dark or leave parts of the canvas untouched. He believes this working method helps to create powerful images.
